One of a number of Villas scattered across the herb strewn hillsides that make up the village of Katsarata, Villa Levanda perches on a seaward facing slope, just 10 minutes drive from the relative hustle and bustle of Fiskardo.
The fifth of our Villas commissioned by the enigmatic Dimitris, whose father has a somewhat heroic history on the island, sits amongst an oasis of calm, maybe further induced by the effect of the lavender planted all around.
Approaching the Villa from the village of Magganos, just over 1 km away with mini markets and tavernas, Villa Levanda is almost dwarfed by its surrounding scenery. Park the car, climb the 14 steps on to the terrace, step through the door and it feels as though you’ve entered a tardis.
Within, an expanse of creamy tiled floors and whitewashed walls make a light contrast to the deep red sofa and chairs and the polished wood dining table that furnish the spacious living area. Two sets of french doors reveal snapshots of the wonderful sea views from the front terrace
Through an archway, the modern and well equipped kitchen has a convenient breakfast table and an ample run of creamy topped wooden cupboards housing all the necessities of holiday catering with a freestanding electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave
Three sets of windows ensure that the cook doesn’t miss out on the views with two double windows overlooking the pool and the third with sea view.
There is a very smart shower room on the ground floor.
At first floor level all three bedrooms have lovely wood vaulted ceilings and of course, sea views. The master double bedroom has a table and chair on a small ornate sea view balcony which also overlooks the pool.
Both the double bedroom and the single bedroom have french doors to a sizeable covered terrace furnished with sofa and chairs and perfectly positioned for enjoying the last rays of the sun at the end of the day.
To the side of Villa Levanda the sparkling 8m x 4m pool has a stone paved sun terrace to the rear, furnished with sun beds and an umbrella for shade. There is a lovely decked ‘chill out’ area to the side of the sun terrace furnished with a rattan sofa and chairs.
On the terrace to the front of the Villa, a table and chairs is positioned conveniently close to the kitchen and in the perfect dining spot where your meals will be accompanied by an ever changing scene.
Beyond the hillside where small flocks of sheep wander, making their daily search for the most succulent herbs, tended by their shepherds, pine trees clothe the hillsides, disappearing into the channel of sparkling blue sea below where ferries and flotillas of little sailing boats slowly make their way back and forth between Fiskardo and Vasilik, Lefkada.
When the lavender has worked its magic and you are ready to explore you will find many little coves at this end of the island, some of which can only be explored by boat, which you can hire in Fiscardo.
This is the watering place for the visiting yachts and has an excellent and varied choice of eating places around the harbour and along its picturesque narrow streets and squares.
